Family Friendly Beaches Near Southeast Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is a popular wintertime destination, but there’s plenty of fun to be had here in the summertime as well! One thing you don’t want to miss out on, though, is the fantastic beaches. There are tons of beautiful stretches of shoreline right on Lake Tahoe for you to explore while you’re in town. Here are a few of our most highly recommended family-friendly beaches near southeast Lake Tahoe! 

Nevada Beach

Located just a couple of miles north of Stateline, Nevada, Nevada Beach has half a mile of gorgeous shoreline providing unmatched views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada mountain range. You and your family can spend your day taking in the incredible scenery, picnicking, or swimming in the waters of Lake Tahoe. You can grab some food from the concession stand, rent kayaks to take out into the water, and even run around with your pet! Nevada Beach is the only pet-friendly beach in the area but make sure you pick up after your furry friend and keep them on a leash and in the picnic area.

You’ll find Nevada Beach about half a mile west of Roundhill Shopping Center on Highway 50. When you arrive, you’ll incur an $8 day-use fee per vehicle. If you’re visiting on the 4th of July, this fee increases to $20 per car, but you’ll enjoy a view of one of the best fireworks displays around!

Round Hill Pines Beach

Round Hill Pines Beach, located in South Lake Tahoe, Nevada, has been welcoming visitors worldwide for decades. You’ll have half a mile of soft sandy beach to enjoy with your family, along with countless amenities for a picture-perfect summer day. There’s a large deck area to take advantage of, as well as barbecue grills and bars for all your dining needs. When you’re ready to get out into the water, you’re able to rent stand-up paddleboards, boats, jet skis, kayaks, and more!

For relaxing on the shoreline, Round Hill Pines also offers rentals for lounge chairs and umbrellas, perfect for lying back and enjoying the view and the sunshine. Whether you want to get competitive with beach volleyball or relax on a lake cruise, they’ve got it all! Parking costs just $12 per day, and if you’re going to be in the area for an extended time, you can opt for a seasonal parking pass for $110.

Zephyr Cove

Zephyr Cove, located right on Highway 50 about 3 miles past the casinos, is a stunning one mile stretch of shoreline within a full-service resort. You’ll find absolutely everything you need to spend the entire day on the lake with your family! Start your day by visiting the general store right on the resort to get your sunscreen or snacks, or you can head to the restaurant or beach bar and grill when you start to get hungry. To get on the water, you can participate in kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, or boating, or if you want to stay dry for a while, get a team together for beach volleyball!

One of the unique activities to experience at Zephyr Cove is the M.S. Dixie II paddle wheeler, which will take you through the Emerald Bay on a fascinating narrated cruise. The $8 entry fee is incredibly affordable but does increase to $25 during the 4th of July weekend.

Sand Harbor Beach

Within the breathtaking Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park, you’ll find Sand Harbor Beach. Sand Harbor is a stunning stretch of beach that attracts all kinds of visitors looking to enjoy the water or bask in the sunshine and take in the view. This location offers about 2,500 feet of shoreline for you to swim, kayak, or even scuba dive! When you’re ready to grab some lunch or just take a break from the water, settle down at a picnic table and enjoy the shade from the cedars and Jeffrey pine trees.

Sand Harbor Beach charges a $10 entrance fee, making this attraction quite budget-friendly. Just be sure to show up early; because of the beach’s popularity, parking tends to fill up quite quickly in the summer, especially on the weekends. Sand Harbor also hosts the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival each year, so be sure to check and see what’s performing while you’re in town!
